United Technologies Aerospace Systems, Fire Protection Systems is the world's largest supplier of fire and overheat protection systems for aircraft and armored vehicle, with equipment on a majority of the world's commercial and military fleets.


In the Aerospace system IPT role, we design and support the manufacture of fire suppressors, electronic control units, and sensors. The successful applicant and team member will perform the following duties:


+ Lead cross functional integrated product teams consisting of both U.S. based and global development engineers to develop liner fire and overheat sensors.

+ Develop and track project schedules and non-reoccurring cost estimates to drive on time and on budget project execution, aid in risk mitigation.

+ Function as a key point of contact between design engineering, manufacturing engineering, quality and operations to facilitate prototype, developmental, and qualification builds and successful transition to production.

+ Also coordinate resources, equipment and test facility availability for verification and qualification test campaigns.

+ The position may require travel to various customers for program coordination meetings and design reviews and to test facilities for set up and monitoring of qualification/integration testing or travel to global development and manufacturing facilities to support development and part builds.

+ Compliance with budget and schedule is essential.

+ Responsible for the management, coordination and execution of the component Integrated Product Development Team

+ Provide Technical, cost and schedule information for program team.

+ Ensure IPT's reach decisions necessary to achieve overall component goals

+ Participates with Program Management Team (PMT) for progress reporting, risk assessment, risk mitigation and execution of program decisions

+ Accountable to PMT for system or component level ownership of task planning and execution and identifies requirements for IPT membership

+ Demonstrates through design reviews and validation testing to the PMT that all goals and requirements are being addressed

+ Informs PMT of issues that may compromise a satisfactory component level requirements solution

+ Manages IPT budget and schedule in accordance with EVMS process and the scope of the project.

+ Create and maintain project schedules within Microsoft Project Server.

+ Interrogate functional work products and plans that conflict with project scope.

+ Specific tasks include requirements analysis, budget and schedule development and tracking, directing cross functional teams, providing status updates to management, review of manufacturing processes, and analysis of field returns.


***** Education / Certifications


BS in an engineering discipline. MBA or Project management certification a plus.

Experience with aerospace systems is a plus as is knowledge of aircraft system design including electronic components and sensors. Specific tasks include requirements analysis, budget and schedule development and tracking, directing cross functional teams, providing status updates to management, review of manufacturing processes, and analysis of field returns.

5 + years design experience, with 2 years as a technical lead.
